I wrote about this last night: there is a major story concerning Trump’s revealing of highly classified intelligence concerning ISIS with the Russian Foreign Minister and Russian Ambassador. If the story is true, it is a serious failure of the President to protect the nation’s intelligence operations.

The National Security Advisor, McMaster, gave a short statement to the press, denying the story. The Beltwaytarians and News Junkies immediately began parsing the statement, and came to the conclusion that McMaster didn’t actually refute the Washington Post story.

This morning, President Trump himself seemed to indicate that the WaPo story is true.

Despite the fact that the President has the authority to declassify intelligence, it is a serious problem if he is revealing information that is better kept secret. The intelligence in question was not gathered by U.S. agents; that means that Trump gave away someone else’s intelligence (I have heard it hinted that it was nation of Jordan).

Erick Erickson claims to know one of the WaPo sources, and he says that the source is pro-Trump.

This is the story that Trump supporters are trying to use to push the WaPo story out of the spotlight. Some DNC staffer may have been the source of some of the WikiLeaks revelations. He was murdered almost a year ago, and, it is reported, the police were ordered to “stand down“.

The amazing nodosaur. The fossil is so well-preserved that it has been described as a “statue”.

♦ Twenty years ago, while I was in college, I was taught in economics class that two sectors drive the economy: Homebuilding and the auto industry. It looks like the home sector is holding firm, at least today.

Molyneux and Zimmerman

I realize that I have expressed disagreement in the past with Stefan Molyneux, but I suspect that his discussion of the Zimmerman-Martin tragedy is probably one of the most thorough one could find this soon after the trial.

The Dept of Justice report on homicide, 1980 – 2008

Read it here.  Also, don’t fall for the line that “28.6% of the people under the age of 18 that were murdered were done in by poison, while only 8.1% were killed with guns”.  What Table 2 is saying is that, of the people who were murdered with poison, 28.6% of them were under the age of 18.  Reading further into the report, it becomes clear that handguns are the most popular murder weapon.

Why, God?

“And in despair I bowed my head;
‘There is no peace on earth,’ I said;
‘For hate is strong,
And mocks the song
Of peace on earth, good-will to men!'”

I hope to never know the misery of those Connecticut parents now sitting in empty homes with empty hearts.  All day long, I’ve felt a mixture of sorrow and anger and hate, for all the good it did me.  I prayed, as all Christians should.  I’m praying now.  “Lord, be with them.  Mercy, Dear God.”

So, why did God allow it?  Why does God allow it?  He’s all-powerful, so the conclusion must be that He doesn’t want to stop such tragedies.  Does a God so seemingly callous deserve our worship?

“Then pealed the bells more loud and deep:
‘God is not dead, nor doth He sleep;
The Wrong shall fail,
The Right prevail,
With peace on earth, good-will to men.'”

Our problem as humans is our temporal outlook.  We think that if things aren’t set right here on this earth, then they never will be.  Just because we don’t see God work according to our timetable doesn’t mean He’s not working at all.  The children who died today are now dancing in the presence of their Creator, free of all fear and sorrow.  They have an eternity of interesting and joyful work, discovery, and rest to look forward to now.  The poor soul who committed this atrocity has an eternity of inescapable shame, along with an infinity existing in a state of separation from his Creator–and from everyone else.  “Where’s the justice?”  Justice is being done right now, in the only realm that matters–the realm of God Almighty.  If you have not placed your trust in Jesus Christ, Who is the ultimate source of justice, then I urge you to do so posthaste.
