Some employee of a government contractor managed to get some classified information, which she then mailed to a news publication. She got arrested. The information appears to show that Russian agents managed to hack a voting services company. Julian Assange, of WikiLeaks, appears to be defending her.

♣ Jesus said that it would better for someone to have a millstone placed around his neck and that he be thrown into the sea, than that the someone harm a child. Politicians in Canada are disregarding the Son of God’s warning. They will learn to their eternal sorrow that ignoring Jesus is a bad idea.

For leftist-progressives, child abuse is a regular way of life. If they can’t slaughter children in the womb, they will use a child’s natural instinct to trust to twist that child’s mind and ruin his life. They are the most evil people alive. They will writhe in the torment of their own shame for eternity.

Fortunately for them, there is an escape: Jesus took upon Himself the shame of us all, satisfying God’s wrath against us for our sin and making it possible for us to enjoy eternity doing interesting work for the glory of God.

Darwinoids can’t decide of evolution occurs by external natural phenomena effecting changes in organisms (the traditional view), or if organisms have a “plastic” genetic code that allow them to move into different environments on purpose.

Listening to the Darwinoid narrative, one can get the idea that “Natural Selection” is a driving force, but Natural selection is just a description of what happens; the concept has no agency.

For example, one gets the idea that, supposing that there is an island populated with dogs, a permanent climate change toward colder temperatures would “cause” dogs to develop long-hair characteristics. Darwinoids don’t really posit this; it just seems like it from listening to them. What Darwinoids say occurs in the above example is that, when the climate changes on the island, the dogs with longer hair tend to live longer, can acquire greater amounts of food–making them healthier–and are more exuberant maters, producing more offspring with the long-haired gene, until eventually the short-haired dogs can no longer find mates to breed. If the climate changes to a warmer one, the process reverses, and short-haired dogs become dominant.

The question that Darwinoids seem to avoid is, why do any of the dogs (or any mammal) have hair at all? Which developed first, male sexual organs, or female sexual organs–did they develop at the same time? I’m sure there’s some fru-fru talk about gender-bending “bacteria” (or some population of “simple organisms”) that became hard-coded with one gender or the other because Natural Selection meant that hard-coded gender bacteria was able to produce more offspring in populations than bacteria that could switch genders and just shut up and gives us more government funding, you Creatard.

Robots are going to take over our jobs, and then the robots will have everything, and live in big mansions, and drive big cars, and take our womenfolk, and we’ll have nothing.

The President of Turkey wants President Trump to not arm the Syrian Kurds, and also to hand over the guy who instigated last year’s coup. The presidents meet in D.C. next week.

♣ Last week I was called for jury duty, but was not ultimately selected. The case was “The State of Texas versus Aaron Gregory Lucas”. The jury found him guilty, and he was sentenced to life in prison. As with his trial in Colorado, he tried to blame the crime on his evil twin brother.

A music machine designed by Leonardo da Vinci is resuscitated. No word on whether Ron Howard will produce a mystery-thriller about the secret code discovered when the instrument is played.

I think Mr. Wenzel meant to say: “It’s Going to Blow”, because “It’s Gong to Blow” doesn’t make sense. In any case, the cure for FedGov budget problems is to cut spending, not raise taxes. Higher tax rates are a disincentive to productive work, which means that incomes are lower, so the taxes collected using the higher rate are collected from a smaller amount of income. It’s an unending spiral to the bottom. I desire that the FedGov cut its tax rates, but even more that it cut the amount of its spending . FedGov spending distorts the economy in numerous unseen ways. By it, the FedGov acquires resources, goods, and services that are then unavailable for market players. FedGov spending also incentivizes firms and individuals to divert resources into satisfying FedGov demands (which are based on political objectives and result in waste) rather than market demands (which are based on market objectives, and thus result in increases in productivity or consumption). Leaving rates where they are and cutting spending (truly cutting, not “reductions in the projected spending increases”) would be a better situation than cutting taxes and increasing FedGov spending–or, even, leaving spending at current levels.

The real child abuse

Perusing facebook, I saw that one of my “friends” threw up another silly article claiming that spanking is child abuse.  There was a study, apparently, that said that between 2% and 7% of children who are spanked grow up to have mental problems.  The article, surprisingly, was offering this evidence to try to persuade parents to eschew this classic and time-honored form of discipline.  That’s right, spanking does not cause mental defects in about 93% – 98% of children who are spanked.  Sounds like a pretty safe form of punishment, actually.

Plus, it’s effective.  You don’t even have to use it, much; the threat alone can often straighten ’em out.  I have four children, all of whom are (or were) spanked, and if there’s one compliment we get while out and about, its how well-behaved our children are.

No, the real child abuse is, I suspect, practiced by those who scorn spanking: leading one’s child into atheism.  Teaching your child that there is no God, that the universe is ultimately meaningless, and that therefore their lives, and everything they do is ultimately meaningless, is the most insidious form of child abuse possible.  It teaches them to refuse reason and scientific evidence in favor of personal “freedom” (and a warped view of freedom, no less).  It teaches them to live in a way that is unfulfilling for them in this life, and disastrous in the next.  No, if we are to have a law against child abuse, better to make it a crime to teach one’s child to believe the atheist dogma rather than to punish parents for using corporal punishment.
