How disappointing

No, this is not another rant about Ron Paul; this is actually about a blog that I enjoyed reading: Vox Popoli.  The author claims to be a Chrisitan, but I am afraid that, in his effort to refute Calvinist doctrine, he has embraced in full  the heresy of Arianism.  That is, he denies that Jesus is God; specifically, he denies that Jesus and YHWH are the same person.  Therefore, he labels the Doctrine of the Trinity as false.

John 8:58 should help clear up any confusion: “Jesus said to them, Truly, truly, I say to you, Before Abraham was, I am.”  That “I am” on the last is YHWH in Hebrew; it was the name God adopted for Himself, and here Jesus is using a clever turn of phrase to claim that it is His own name, and that He eternally exists (He had no beginning).  So, no, it is not correct to say that Jesus isn’t YHWH, especially when Jesus Himself claimed to be so.

For more in depth explanation of the Doctrine of the Trinity, see here and here and here.
